Sim Rules
Welcome to Howlers Void, a home for role-play and science fiction fans alike. The first concept we would like to get across is that we value our role-play collaborators. Without players, content creators, leads, and enthusiasts we would not exist and you are welcomed and valued. After other experiences with other sims we have learned that to protect the experience and time of all of our players we need to have some guidelines that are non-negotiable.
All players must be a minimum of eighteen years old to play in Howlers Void.
Do not Powergame, God Mode, or Metagame.
Out of character bullying and harassment will not be tolerated. While your characters might be villainous degenerates that love to tie old ladies to torpedoes and shoot them into space, that needs to remain in character. When you are interacting with others out of character situation you need to act civil and reasonable. If you find yourself being treated in an inappropriate manner and are unable to work it out for yourself please come speak with administration.
Be adult and try to work out issues on your own. Also, remember that we are all trying to create stories and have fun. People are as invested in their characters and factions as you are to yours. However, role-play is never about winning but rather about writing fun and as realistic stories as possible. If you have an issue with someone try to work it out first in instant message between you and the other person. If you are unable to resolve the issue this way pause the scene, notecard the scene, and request staff moderation.
Remember it’s a story, not real life. Role-play does not mean that we have to have a scene for every mundane piece of one's day. It also means that sometimes we have to be a little more flexible in our role-play to make stories progress. It also means that we may need to communicate at times with foes and friends alike in an out of character manner.
Respect limits and NEVER put a fellow role-player in the position where they have no choice. For example, do not put a gun to a person's head and pull the trigger unless they have come to you and specifically asked to kill their character. Just don’t.
This is not a beginner's sim. Please be able to put together an interactive, emotive, paragraph post. Therefore a post should have description and action that can be reacted upon. A post where you think something but don’t show your feelings or actions is not role-play that can be acted upon and is no fun for others. Also, do not think insults about people. It does not make you clever, can not be reacted upon, and can be considered bullying.

Always adhere to a post order. One post per round. Please be realistic with size of posts especially in larger scenes. If you are in a conflict scene with six or more participants perhaps you don’t want to be writing for ten minutes for a three-paragraph post. If you are in a scene with one other player who is matching detail and description feel free to knock your boots off.
Public spaces are always considered In Character Spaces. While in these spaces please emote and refrain from long AFK breaks. If a player is in a public space it can be assumed that everyone can see and react to their actions. BUT, if there is a multi-player conflict scene that you have no real investment in you do not need to react. If you are in a conflict scene and everyone and their Aunt Trudy has decided to post about how flatulent they are during fights then the main participants can have a separate post order.
Assume that public spaces and businesses have people in them (NPC's) even if there are no actual players available.
Ask permission from managers and owners before you damage any property.

Claiming ignorance of the guidelines is not an excuse for not following them. We tried to keep it fairly simple.

Remember, have fun and work together so everyone can enjoy their time on Howlers Void.
